Tips:

1. Select the desired Query (type of record)
2. Search by text, date range, and/or keyword fields (indexes). For a field with a long string of text that you would not naturally remember, you can use the asterisk (*) wildcard up to the part you remember. For example, Pacific*
3. If you only know a word that falls in the middle of a larger string of words, you can bracket the word with asterisks and search for it within the context of the string. For example, *Pacific*
4. If you would like to search a phrase, you can bracket the phrase with quotation marks. For example, “City of Malibu”
5. ? – The question mark replaces a single character. You can use it to replace any letter or numeral about which you are unsure. For example, for ‘pebble’ you can write peb?le.”
6. For date searches, the best format is mm/dd/yyyy.
7. Click Search. The search results will appear in this window.
8. If the search takes too long, refresh the page, choose the search type again, and add more criteria to narrow the search.
9. Click the document to view and download.
